Our Story: Ujenzi Store to Tranex Fabricators

 

Every great company begins with a vision—and for Issa Hashim, that vision was forged over many years in the heart of Dar es Salaam’s construction supply trade.

 

Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the building industry, Issa worked alongside relatives at Ujenzi Store, a respected family business known for supplying high-quality building materials to contractors, developers, and homeowners across Tanzania. For years, the store played a vital role in fuelling the country’s construction boom—providing everything from cement and steel to plumbing and finishing materials.

 

It was in these busy warehouses, bustling yards, and conversations with builders that Issa gained first-hand insight into the pulse of the construction sector. He learned not only the importance of reliable supply but also the challenges faced by engineers, project managers, and contractors in bringing projects to life.

 

One gap stood out to him more than any other: while there were plenty of suppliers and general contractors, there was a shortage of specialists in structural steelworks and mechanical site works who could deliver both precision and dependability. Too often, projects stalled or quality was compromised because there simply wasn’t enough local capacity in these critical areas.

 

That realisation sparked an idea—and the idea became a mission.

 

Armed with his industry knowledge, strong supplier relationships, and a drive to raise standards, Issa founded Tranex Fabricators. From day one, the company set out to do more than fabricate steel. Its goal was to bridge the gap between supply and execution—offering clients a partner who could deliver high-quality structural and mechanical works, on time and to exacting standards.
